Knowlan Family Farm aims to provide local fruit, vegetables, grass-finished beef and family fun. We opened our doors in 2016 and are looking forward to offering more products and activities as we continue to grow. The farm offers over 29 varieties of U-pick apples, as well as peaches, nectarines, pears, blueberries, blackberries, pumpkins, vegetables, grass-finished beef, and other local products. The years to come will also bring more activities for kids and families as we continue to grow. We look forward to seeing you on the farm!

FIELD TRIP INFORMATION – SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER 2018
Knowlan Family Farm is excited to offer field trips this fall to preschool - elementary school age children. Field trips will be offered Monday - Friday in September and October.
Field trips will include:
A tour of our apple sorting and cooler area in our farm store
Walking access to our apple orchard
Each child will be able to pick one apple (if available)
Access to our kids outdoor play area
Access to our petting barn (small farm animals)
The cost will be $5.00 per person. School chaperones will get in free with their school ID. There will need to be appropriate supervision in order to ensure the safety of all children. Parents are invited to attend as well for $5.00 a person.
If you are interested in booking a field trip with Knowlan Family Farm, please call our farm store at 573-204-3831, Mon-Sat 9:00am-5:00pm or email us at email@example.com. We will reserve your date at that time. We will also need to have a final head count at least two days before your scheduled field trip.
All pick-your-own apples are $1.49 per lb. There is no cost to pick.

+ Granny Smith
A firm and juicy apple with thick skin. Their flesh is bright white and crisp in texture with a tart, acidic, yet subtly sweet flavor. Often used in baking because of their high acidity and ability to hold their shape when cooked. Try baked into sweet or savory pies, tarts, or meat pastries; add to savory bread stuffing, risotto or potato pancakes. Their sweet-tart flavor is a great addition to soups, smoothies and sauces.
+ Pink Lady (Cripps)
A crunchy texture and a tart taste with a sweet finish. The white flesh is juicy and crisp, and offers a “fizz-like” burst of flavor. Ideal for fresh, out-of-hand eating, Pink Lady apples also make great dessert apples. The crisp apples retain their shape when baked in pies, tarts, and pancakes or poached in wine paired with cinnamon, nutmeg or vanilla.
+ Stayman Winesap
Firm skin with a crisp and exceptionally juicy flesh. Winesap apples are highly aromatic with a balanced sweet-tart taste and get their name due to their distinctive spicy wine flavor. Exceptionally juicy, these apples are perfect for cider, sauces, juice and preserves. They add moisture and a sweet flavor to breads, muffins and cakes. Its spicy wine-like flavor will compliment both sweet and savory preparations.
Medium to coarse grained, firm, crisp, and pale yellow flesh that is slow to brown once sliced. The flavor is complex, spicy, and maintains bright acidity at harvest. This apple is good for both fresh eating and cooking, as well as juice and cider. Since they don’t brown easily when exposed to air, GoldRush are a good choice for fruit salads.
+ Aztec Fuji
Aztec Fujis are the one of the latest in the line of Fuji apples. With consistent red blush coloring, this apple has retained all of the sweet, juicy flavor that Fujis are known for. The thick skin and dense flesh of the Fuji apple holds up well when cooked. Fuji apples can be roasted, baked, sautéed and boiled down into sauce. Try adding to baked desserts such as strudels and crisps.
+ Candy Crisp
Glossy yellow, generally russet free apple with an extremely mild, pear- like flavor. It’s a large, conical fruits are occasionally blushed with soft pink. Its flavor is sweet and it is best eaten fresh. It’s the best to make candy apples with.
+ Super Red Fuji
A sweet, crisp, drippy-juicy apple that has a rich, deep, scarlet color, and is gorgeous in salads and on platters. It retains its crisp character, even at room temperature.
A dense and cream flesh that is white to yellow in color with a crisp and juicy texture. The cameo’s flavor is the perfect balance of sweet and tart with hints of both honey and citrus. Can be used in both sweet and savory applications and have a good resistance to browning. Cameo’s sweet flavor is enhanced in cooked preperations. Add chopped Cameo to quiche, polenta and cobblers.
Smooth bright green to yellow in color with a firm white flesh that is crisp and juicy. With a sweet-tart flavor that has subtle hints of spice, the Mutsu apple is an excellent keeper and will take on even sweeter flavors in cold storage. The Mutsu is sought after for its use as an excellent dessert apple in the culinary world. Their sweetness will compliment pies and tarts. They will add moisture and flavor to muffins, bread, and cakes.
+ Ultra Gold
Ultra Gold is a new variety of golden delicious that has glossy skin. It is more conical shaped than the golden delicious but similar in taste. Ultra Gold has better storage life, and is less susceptible to shriveling. Fruit is firm, large and sweet. Good for eating, cooking, and baking.
+ Schlett Red Delicious
Bright to deep red in color, the creamy white flesh of Red Delicious is dense and offers a mildly sweet flavor. Best used in fresh preparations. Add to green, fruit, and chopped salads. Use as an edible garnish on sandwiches, quesadillas, and burgers.
+ September Wonder Fuji
Same great flavor as the Fuji apple, September Wonder Fuji is an early variety. This apple has pink speckled skin over a yellow-green background. It is also crisp and juicy, with dull white flesh, which snaps cleanly. The flavor is predominantly sweet, very refreshing
Jonagold apples are aromatic with honey-like sweetness and moderate acidity. Unique flavor makes the fruit luscious enough to serve by itself as dessert. This crisp super apple is a cross between the tart Jonathan and the sweet Golden Delicious. They are excellent for fresh eating, salads and baked goods.
+ Pink Lady (Maslin)
Maslin is an early maturity version of Cripps Pink. A crunchy texture and a tart taste with a sweet finish. The white flesh is juicy and crisp, and offers a “fizz-like” burst of flavor. Ideal for fresh, out-of-hand eating, Pink Lady apples also make great dessert apples.
+ Red Jonagold
Red Jonagold is firm, crunchy and sweet for eating. . With superb, rich, full flavor this apple has great dessert and eating quality. A larger sized apple that is great for applesauce and pies.
Empire apple is a cross of McIntosh and Red delicious. Has the flavor of McIntosh with the sweetness of delicious. It is a deep purplish red in color with a creamy white flesh that is moderately tart and sub- acid. Empire becomes sweeter as the days get colder. It taste great fresh or in a desert.
+ Snow Sweet
Sweet flavor with a slight tart balance and rich overtones, Snow Sweet has a white, crisp flesh that’s tasty and perfect for fresh eating. A top-pick for salads as it remains crisp and resists browning long after cutting.
Cortland apples have a gorgeous, crimson red skin with a snowy sweet center that won’t brown in salads. Exceptionally juicy and a sweet-tart flavor that is also perfect for pies and cider.
+ Ultra Red Jonathan
A full-flavored early Jonathan! Fruit is ideal for fresh eating, sauce, and caramel apples.
+ Sweet Sixteen
Red-striped apples with a crisp, juicy texture and exotic yellow flesh. This outstanding dessert apple has an excellent sweet, unusual flavor, like spicy cherry candy. Excellent for eating and cooking.
+ Jona Red Jonathan
Perfect for pie! A bright red fruit with that classic Jonathan sweet-tart taste. Makes flavorful pies, adds complexity to cider, and is a top choice for old-fashioned candied apples.
+ Golden Supreme
Golden Supreme Apples have a pale yellow skin, sometimes with a red blush. As one of the more mellow and sweet varieties, all-purpose Goldens are great for eating out of hand, baking and salads. Golden's crisp, pale yellow flesh resists browning, making it a good choice for salads and other dishes. Being one of the sweeter apple varieties, cooks, note that you can reduce the amount of added sugar when making pies with Goldens.
+ Brookfield Gala
Gala apples bring a sweet, clean crunch to the table. They have mild sweet and vanilla-like flavors with a floral aroma. Excellent for fresh eating, salads, sauce, pies, and baking.
+ Buckeye Gala
This tangy apple gets its name from the state it was bred in—Ohio, the Buckeye State! Buckeye Gala is almost solid red with a deep burgundy stripe. The flavor is sweet like other Gala’s, with a slightly more tangy taste. The Buckeye Gala, like other Gala's is great to eat out of hand and works well in cider and sauce.
Blondee apples have a sweet taste with somehints of honey and green banana. They feature smooth skin and bruise-resistant flesh. A wonderful early season apple. Good eaten fresh, out-of-hand. Retain their shape well when baked.
Honeycrisp is a medium to large sized apple with a light green to yellow background largely covered with a red-orange flush. The apple is very juicy and sweet in flavor. Honeycrisp is an excellent eating apple, but also maintains their sweet flavor when cooked. Try baked into crisp or pie.
